We offer a depth of experience in the in-shore and near-shore flats of Homosassa and Crystal River. Other areas are available by request. It’s openseason year round for Redfish, Trout, Black Drum, Flounder, Sheepshead, Grouper and Snapper. Cobia, King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel can be caught from April through October. On a whim my husband decided he wanted to go fishing, knowing nothing of the area we were forced to Google. There were a couple charters out of our hotel, but we decided we wanted a more authentic experience. (We didn't want to sit on a boat full to the brim and be fishing on top of everyone).
We contacted Homosassa fishing charters and got in touch with Captain Jody. I informed him we (my children 4 & 8 and my husband) wanted to go redfish fishing. He quickly suggested scalloping. It was the last two days of the season and he assured us that we would all have a blast. I'm from the NW and all I thought about was claming. I wasn't in the mood to dig, I wanted to fish. But he promised we would love it, so we signed up. Friday afternoon we set out not knowing what to expect... but...
SCALLOPING WAS THE MOST FUN WE HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME!!! We took a lovely boat ride out into the golf where we swam and collected scallops for hrs. When my kids were tired and hungry captain Jody sat with them on the boat. I am normally nervous around water but I felt so safe and comfortable leaving them on the boat while I swam around. It was a dream day. Both my Husband and I will be back and using Homosassa fishing charters and Captain Jody for our future vacations to flordia.

An amazing experience with Captain Jody Hogan. He was patient with our group of 4, he provided wet suits and snorkeling equipment. A perfect day and lots and lots of Manatees, fish and turtles today! We loved every minute!

Jody is a fun guy, a great communicator, cool, calm, and most importantly knows the waterways and how to put you on whatever it is you’re trying to catch or see. His equipment is clean and well-maintained. He found a local woman to clean our scallops (we limited FAST), while we went out for a great lunch at a place he recommended.
