I have came down from Virginia to fish two years in a row. The first time was with Mike Thompson, we had a great time, he put us on fish quickly and we consistently caught fish. The same this year with Mike Gerry, one of our days, the wind was blowing 20+ Mph. But Mike didn’t let that stop him from working to find fish. Great day on the lake with Mike. With all the various frontal issues, was not optimistic we'd catch any bass. Fishing was tough but Mike worked though the conditions and put us on fish. 12 bass in total....most were nice size. Recently relocated to the area. Booked a whole day trip with Mike and it was a rewarding experience to say the least! First ten minutes into the day we were hooked up and catching fish. I learned so much more about the lake and how it sets up for this time of year. Mike is very knowledgeable and been guiding on the lake for 22 years. Mike took us out for a 4 hour trip that was originally planned on including my father who was given a poor prognosis after being diagnosed with colon cancer. He was too weak to make the trip and lived it through the pictures and excitement my fiancé and i had after returning to our rental house. He helped me put a smile on that mans face i won’t forget. Mike is a great guide who will share knowledge and will make every effort to see that you catch fish! Had a great time! Just so people understands what kind of guide Mike is let me share with you: the morning we went out a cold front moved in, Mike put us on fish right away, even though it was 39 degrees and there were 25 mph winds! He told us he could keep us on fish, the remainder of the day and he could have! But we wanted to search for quality fish. He delivered! We caught several nice fish including one just shy of 6 pounds! Pretty impressive considering the rapid decline in weather! Well done and thanks for the tips! The next day I landed my new personal best thanks to Mikes tips! 6 pounds and 13 ounces!

My wife and I came to Lake Guntetsville for our first trip this week, we are from Kentucky. We hired Mike Gerry for a few days to help with showing us around the lake and the local fishing tips. We are both somewhat experienced boaters and have bass fished for many years in Kentucky.
Our experience with Mike was absolutely the best, his equipment is second to none, the most modern Bass Boat (Ranger) I ever been on, Fabulous Lowrance depth finders/gps units and countless other modern tools to help with fishing.

My wife and I went out with Captain Gerry in early October hoping to work them over on top water bite. Hot fall did not cooperate giving hotter than usual water temps.
We did not knock them dead, but Captain Gerry gave us 110% trying to get us on fish. When the day was over we all caught fish and had an awesome day!

We had the best day of my life fishing with Captain Mike on Thursday April 26, 2018. We caught more big fish than I have ever caught in any lake public or private. Our best 5 were probably close to 30 lbs. The weather was a little cool and it rained most of the day but we flat whacked'em.

I have never fished with Mike and not caught fish. The norm is to catch a dozen or more bass before 11 in the morning. Lake Guntersville is one of the best lakes in the U.S. and Mike Gerry is dialed in to what the fish are doing and how to present to them on any given day. I highly recommend a day on the water with him. You will be a better angler for it.

Mike is a great teacher for those interested in learning more about how to target largemouth bass. My company In The Spread does instructional fishing videos and has filmed with him several times. I could not be happier with the knowledge he shares and how well the productions turn out.

My husband and I fished Lake Guntersville Monday-Wednesday not having much luck, only caught 2 bass. We booked a four hour trip with Mike Thompson for Thursday. Mike is a super nice person and did as he promised, putting us on some good fish. The weather was windy and cold, but I ended up with a nice 5 lb bass, my personal best. What an awesome time! Mike put us on fish all day and man did we catch them. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and a great conversationalist while we were casting away. If the fish weren't biting our baits, he'd open up his treasure trove and give us some that they would bite. We fished spots that I would never have thought would hold bass.
